I have always wanted to talk about this and it seems that now is a good time since Christmas is next week and New Year is the week after. The reason is we are usually in Fantasy during the holiday season.
During Christmas and New Year, we have a Fantasy of a nice family gathering, exchange gifts, hold hands and sing “Kum-Bah-Yah.” Then, we fantasize and hoping that we will have a nice and prosperous New Year. I hear many people talk about what kind of food they are going to cook, how every relative will be at the parents’ house, have fun and enjoy the holidays. Then, we eat, exchange gifts and go shopping, and then some of us even write up a New Year’s Resolution. You can find this “perfect” picture on TV every day.
However, all these fantasies are just fantasies. They are not real, that is the reason why they are call fantasies. The reality is there are so much work to do, cooking, shopping; and of course a lot of dishes to wash. In addition, not everyone is happy at the gathering. Conflicts may arise here and there and everyone trying to put up a “good face” to make sure the holiday season is still a “fantasy”.
At the end of the year, whether it is Christmas or not; is a time to look at ourselves and to be with our own self. It is a time to look at the past year and see what we have done for ourselves and what we will do next year. We may have done many things for other people, what have we done for ourselves?
Are we able to face the Reality of what is inside of us and not cover ourselves with Fantasy?
